Backups for
a home server.
K12 Backup is a private backup tool for a home Proxmox server. It keeps encrypted copies of containers, virtual machines, host configuration and important files on a local disk and in the owner’s Google Drive.
What it backs up
The tool runs on its owner’s Proxmox host and takes scheduled snapshots of LXC containers, QEMU virtual machines, the host configuration, selected personal files and database dumps. Each generation is verified after it is written.
Where the copies live
Backups go to an encrypted repository on a local USB disk and are replicated to a dedicated folder in the owner’s Google Drive. The data is encrypted by the backup tool before it leaves the server, so Google stores encrypted blobs rather than readable files.
Google Drive access
K12 Backup uses the Google Drive API to create and manage its own backup folder. It does not read, change or share other Drive content, and it does not use Google data for advertising or analytics. Access can be revoked at any time from the owner’s Google Account.
Who it’s for
This is a single-owner tool for a private home server. It is not a public service, there is no sign-up, and it is not affiliated with Google. The Google Drive integration exists only so the owner can keep an off-site copy of their own backups.
