How K12 Backup
handles data.
This notice covers the K12 Backup application, a private backup tool for its owner’s home server. It is separate from the Nuviva website privacy notice.
Google Drive access
K12 Backup asks for access to Google Drive so it can create and maintain an encrypted backup repository in the owner’s account. The application only works with its dedicated backup folder. It does not read, modify or share other Drive content, and it does not use Google user data for advertising, analytics or any purpose other than storing and restoring the owner’s backups.
What is stored
The backup repository contains encrypted archives of containers, virtual machines, host configuration, selected personal files and database dumps. The encryption key is held by the owner on the server; Google does not receive it.
How data is protected
Backup data is encrypted client-side before it is uploaded, and transfers use HTTPS. Credentials and the repository password are stored on the owner’s server with restricted file permissions.
Sharing
K12 Backup does not sell, rent or share Google user data with third parties. There are no advertising or analytics services, and no one reviews the contents of the backups.
Retention and deletion
Backups remain in the owner’s Google Drive until the owner deletes the backup folder or removes the application’s access. Local copies can be deleted separately on the server. Revoking access does not delete existing backup files automatically; the owner can remove them from Drive at any time.
Limited Use
K12 Backup’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
